RUSH CITY — Alaura Dahl finished with 82 set assists, 32 digs, 11 kills, seven ace serves and five blocks to lead the Pine River-Backus Tigers to the tournament title of the Rush City Invite Friday, Aug. 26.
The Tigers topped Chisago Lakes 2-0, Litchfield 2-1 and Cambridge 2-0 in pool play before defeating host Rush City 2-1 in the title match.
Hannah Barchus added 47 kills, 40 digs and six blocks. Kassidy Bristow contributed 27 digs and 22 kills for the Tigers.

ROYALTON — The Staples-Motley Cardinals finished third in the Royalton Tournament Friday, Aug. 26, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Pillager in bracket play.

Grace Jennissen posted 19 blocks, 18 kills and three ace serves for the Cardinals and Jade Storry finished with 25 digs, 12 kills and three ace serves.
The Pierz Pioneers placed seventh after defeating Royalton in bracket play. Ashley Kimman recorded 23 digs, 22 set assists, 21 kills, four blocks and three ace serves for the Pioneers.
