Area Wrestling: Ervasti wins conference title

MENAHGA — Gideon Ervasti finished 3-0 to place first at 220 pounds and led the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie Raiders to a fourth-place finish in the Park Region Conference Championship Saturday, Feb. 5.

David Revering and Reese Thompson were runner-up finishers for the Raiders.

Koby Endres finished second at 170 pounds to lead Wadnea-Deer Creek to eighth.

Aitkin’s Strohmayer wins

PINE ISLAND — Madelyn Strohmayer finished 4-0 with three pins and a 6-4 decision over Rian Grunwald of Owatonna to win the 114-pound division at the Pine Island girls tournament Saturday, Feb. 5.

The Aitkin Gobbler sophomore improved her record to 21-2 on the season.

Wadena-Deer Creek’s Madelyn Gallant placed sixth at 138 pounds as she finished 1-3. Her victory was a 3:53 pin of Isabelle Swanson in the consolation quarterfinals.
