COLD SPRING — Six errors helped the Rocori Spartans put up seven runs in the first inning and go on to defeat the Brainerd Warriors 17-4 Wednesday, May 25, in Central Lakes Conference action.
Cayden Kleffman was 1-2 with a walk, triple and RBI. Carter Springer doubled and drove in a run and Matthew Karlson drove in another run. Riley DeRosier was 1-2 with a run scored.
Brainerd had played in three straight shutout games. The Warriors won the first two 1-0, 3-0 before falling to Bemidji Tuesday 1-0. Wednesday was the third straight game for Brainerd with game No. 4 coming Thursday, May 26 at Duluth East.
Isaac Hanson was tagged with the loss. He gave up seven runs, but just one was earned. He allowed three hits and walked two. After going through just three pitchers the last three games, Brainerd used five Wednesday.
