Girls Basketball: Warriors’ season ends in Rogers

The Brainerd Warriors faced Rogers in the Section 8-4A Semifinals.

ROGERS — Olivia Tautges’ 16 points led the No. 3 Brainerd Warriors in a 62-50 loss to the No. 2-seeded Rogers Royals in the Section 8-4A Semifinals Saturday, March 5.

The Royals defeated the Warriors 64-59 Dec. 3, but Brainerd entered the game on a five-game winning streak

Rogers took a 29-21 lead at the half and the Warriors were unable to close the gap in the second half.

Myah Nelson and Meghan Smith each finished with nine points and the Warriors ended the season 21-6.

“I am so proud of this team,” Brainerd head coach Troy Nelson said. “We had a great season, competed and played for each other all season long. (Saturday) was no different. We battled in a hard-fought game. We just came up a little short.


“This group of seniors had wonderful careers and will be greatly missed. They will be remembered for being great teammates and leaders, along with playing with a ton of grit.”
