BLAINE — The Xolos Academy FC MN 16-and-under girls soccer team placed second in the silver division of the Target USA Cup held July 12-16 at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
It’s the largest youth soccer tournament in the western hemisphere and the Xolos were one goal away from the top spot of their division.
Twin cities Rush topped Xolos Academy 1-0 in the championship game. The Twin Cities Rush outscored its opponents 36-3 prior to the title tilt.
Making up the Xolos team were Brenna Eggebraaten of Alexandria, Grand Rapids’ London Bergland and Ryan Martinson, Brainerd’s Alice Balsley, Elise Johnson, Kahlan Johnson, Skylar Aylward, Levi LeMieur, Gracie Jackovich, Lilly DeRosier, Ava Erlandson, Lindsay Hunt, Lauren Hunt, Grace McArdell, Mia Sypnieski, Myia Nelson, Sophia Lundy and Molly Swantek.
