Legion Baseball: Brainerd finishes 1-2 over weekend

The Brainerd Legion baseball team competed in the Minot Tournament over the weekend.

MINTO — Mitchell Brau pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief for the Brainerd Legion in a 6-2 loss to Mandan Sunday, June 26, at the Minot Tournament.

Brau pitched 3.1 innings and allowed one hit and two walks. He struck out one. Matt Karlson started the game and allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and four walks. He struck out three.

Eric Eidenshink collected Brainerd’s lone RBI and Riley DeRoiser doubled.

Brainerd 3, Pierre 1

MINOT — Jack Schafer struck out eight and scattered two hits over seven innings to pitch the Brainerd Legion team to a 3-1 victory over Pierre, S.D., in the Minot Tournament Sunday, June 26.


Schafer allowed one earned run and walked five. He also doubled.

Adam Jensen was 2-3 with two runs and Mitchell Brau was 2-4 with a double.

Riley DeRoiser and Eli Owen drove in runs for Brainerd.

Minot 10, Brainerd 9

MINOT — Minot’s Morgan Nygaard drew a walk to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-9 victory over Brainerd Legion Saturday, June 25, in the Minot Tournament.

Minot built a 9-2 lead after four innings, but Brainerd scored six in the sixth. Mitchell Brau was 3-5 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored.

Brody Lund drew three walks from the leadoff spot and scored three times. Jack Schafer was 3-4 with a double and three RBIs.

And Alan Helmin and Cayden Kleffman each drove in a run for Brainerd.
