Track and Field: Both Pequot Lakes relay teams advance to finals

Class 2A State Prelims June 10

ST. MICHAEL — Pequot Lakes’ 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams of Julia Keiffer, Riya Johnson, Josie Taylor and Joselyn Rinio each qualified for the Class 2A Finals Friday, June 10, in the Class 2A State Prelims at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

The 4x100 relay ran an eighth-place time of 50.97 and the 4x200 relay finished in 1:46.35 to also be eighth.

Pequot Lakes’ Calia Chaney advanced to the finals in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.66 which was fourth.

Little Falls’ Danielle Schirmers reached the finals in the 100 hurdles with a fourth-place time of 15.39.

Pequot Lakes’ Cruz Megazzini finished 10th in the 400 dash in 51.01 and was a medical scratch in the 200 dash.

Charles Schiessl of Pequot Lakes finished 13th in the 110 hurdles in 15.82.

Little Falls’ Wyatt Baum raced the 800 run in 2:02.38 to finish 15th.

The Class 2A Finals are scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at St. Michael-Albertville.

4x200 relay: 1-Monticello 1:43.23, 8-Pequot Lakes (Keiffer, Johnson, Taylor, Rinio) 1:46.35
