The grand finale of Brainerd International Raceway's Bracket Drag Racing Series is this weekend, and there's much at stake for most of the 200-plus drag racers expected to compete.

The final weekend means that drivers have one last shot at earning series points as they chase series championships in 10 different classes. But Saturday's race is also important for all racers because it's the National Dragster Challenge, where drivers in six of the 10 classes have a rare chance at winning a Wally trophy and bragging rights for another year.

Racing starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with one round of time trials followed by elimination rounds until winners are determined at the end of each day.

Saturday's race includes the National Dragster Challenge for drivers in the Super Pro, Pro ET, Sportsman, Pro Bike/Sled, Comp Trophy and Street Trophy classes. Winners of those classes Saturday will take home a replica Wally trophy, like those that the stars of the NHRA win.

BIR's Bracket Drag Racing Series features amateur drag racers competing in dragsters, cars, trucks, bikes, snowmobiles and Junior Dragsters for prize money, hardware and points that go toward series championships. Super Pro and Pro classes battle for a guaranteed $2,000 to win each day.
