Rochester rallies past North Stars

The Rochester Grizzlies scored five times in the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat the visiting Breezy Point North Stars 5-4 in North American3 junior hockey action Friday, Jan. 11.

The Rochester Grizzlies scored five times in the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat the visiting Breezy Point North Stars 5-4 in North American3 junior hockey action Friday, Jan. 11.

Casey Hormann and Jacob Berkowitz scored to give the North Stars the lead after two periods. But Rochester rallied by scoring five of the first six goals in the third period and then held on for the win. Lukas Brockman and Cooper Hoheisel did score for Breezy Point in the final period.

Winning goaltender Liam Kelly had 21 saves while the North Stars' Dan Fielding turned aside 43 shots.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, against Willmar, the North Stars built a lead on goals by Berkowitz and Nate Chamberlin before the WarHawks cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal late in the second period. Winning netminder Jacob MacLennan, who had 14 saves, shut out Willmar in the third period for the home-ice win. Losing goalie Lucas Ehrlich had 42 saves.

Breezy Point, 9-22-2-1 overall, is scheduled to play at Willmar on Friday, Jan. 18, and at New Ulm on Saturday, Jan. 19.
