Early bird registration is open for The Dump Run Quarter Marathon and The Dump Run 5K which begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 4 during Riverboat Days in Aitkin.
The quarter marathon course takes participants on a scenic course on pavement and gravel starting at the Pine Lake access. This route takes runners by the old dump, past Jim's Water Stop on old Highway 169 and northward to Paulbeck's County Market.
The 5K course begins at Paulbeck's and works its way to the bike path crossing the Ripple River and into Aitkin's City Park. Runners return over the same route to the finish line at Paulbeck's.
The 31st anniversary of The Dump Run serves as the kickoff to Riverboat Days.
Runners and walkers are welcome to the event which is sponsored by Paulbeck's.
