ALEXANDRIA - Andy Schlosser (120 pounds) of Brainerd and Axel Lange (152) of Little Falls captured championships in the Section 8-3A individual wrestling tournament Saturday night to advance to the state tournament.

Schlosser defeated Bemidji's Brian Maas 11-6 for his title. Maas was seeded first at 120 and ranked second at that weight class. Schlosser (38-2) was seeded second in the section and ranked fourth in 3A.

"Maas beat Andy in the Paul Bunyan tournament earlier in the season 7-4 I believe was the score," Warriors co-head coach Mike Boran said. "Both of them are pretty highly ranked for whatever that's worth. It was just a fun, entertaining match to watch.

"Andy really wrestled well. He went in with a pretty good game plan and just beat him. It was a great match for Andy to come back and beat a highly ranked kid who has placed in the state a couple times. It was a nice step for him to go to the state tournament with some momentum."

Runner-up Braden Kramer (106) will also advance for the Warriors, as well as second-place Josh Beack (145) of Little Falls.
