Soon Beavers of Breezy Point takes the concept of being a good neighbor to a different level in her job with Good Neighbor Home Health Care of Baxter and in her personal life.

Beavers has worked for Good Neighbor for about 12 years and has been an avid angler of about eight years. She's found a way to combine the love of her work and her hobby.

She was led to fishing by her husband Dan, who is a lifelong angler.

"My husband says I'm worse than he is," Soon Beavers said about her addictive tendencies toward fishing.

The couple lives near Pelican Lake and fish together often and year-round. She works every morning but devotes time to fish before work, often hitting the water at 5 a.m. That leads to a regular supply of fresh fish. But the couple doesn't often keep the fish to themselves.

Like the good neighbors they are, they are always looking to share some with those that are in need.

"I love to give to those that can't fish but love fish," Soon Beavers said. "We love catching, we love sharing."

She'll often catch fish in the morning, then clean it, cook it and serve it to those she visits. If she's going to be visiting a client who lives on or near a lake, she'll even head to the client's nearby lake early to catch fish there. She adds the clients are always pleased to have her stop in and hopeful she found luck on the water.

"We love catching fish, but we always give it away," Soon Beavers said. "We only give to those who need it-who can't go fish for themselves."

Beavers said she and her husband fish all over the Brainerd lakes area and she particularly enjoys catching panfish. She had a great ice fishing season and has been cautioning her husband to hang up the ice fishing poles for the season. The open water season and the promise of more angling opportunities has her excited to continue to share from her bounty.
