Winter trout fishing opened on January 17 for the first time in the mine lakes and will close on March 31. The area is also open for spearing northern pike for the first time. Winter trout fishing opened on Jan. 17 for the first time in the mine lakes and will close on March 31. The area is also open for spearing northern pike for the first time.

There have been reports of a 17.8-pound lake trout and a 48-inch northern pike coming out of the ultra-clear waters since fishing opened.
