Central Lakes College freshman Ryan Trout won a pair of United States Cross Country Snowmobile Racing events Jan. 7-8 during the Gerald Dyrdahl Memorial-Pine Lake 200 south of Gonvick.
The Staples-Motley High School graduate won the semi-pro and I-500 classes.
Trout was racing with a heavy heart. Christian Brothers Race Team teammate Hunter Houle, 18, of Forest Lake was killed Friday in a prerace crash on Pine Lake.
