ST. PAUL -- Romain Metanire scored his first MLS goal in the 20th minute as the host Minnesota United recorded a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, May 25, in Saint Paul.

Vito Mannone made three saves for Minnesota (6-4-3, 21 points), which improved to 3-0-3 at home and has allowed just one goal in its past five matches at Allianz Field.

Mannone's fifth clean sheet matches Bobby Shuttleworth for the club single-season record. He is two shy of tying Minnesota's all-time record.

Joe Willis finished with three saves for Houston (7-3-2, 23 points), which was unable to overcome in the injury absence of All-Star forward Alberth Elis (concussion) en route to dropping its third in a row on the road. Elis was injured after colliding with D.C. United's Steve Birnbaum in the first minute of their match last Saturday.

Metanire opened the scoring as his right-footed service from outside of the box went off midfielder Boniek Garcia's foot and sailed over the fingertips of Willis, banked off the back post and into the net.

Darwin Quintero nearly made the Dynamo pay with a pair of point-blank chances in the early going. His spinning left-footed shot caromed off the crossbar in the fifth minute, and he flustered defender Alejandro Fuenmayor before lofting a chip shot that sailed just over the net in the 30th.

Quintero didn't let up in the second half, as he accepted a neatly threaded pass from Angelo Rodriguez before unleashing a blast that was saved by Willis.

Minnesota pressed to double its advantage in the 55th minute, as Mannone's long toss set up Rodriguez on the break. After initially colliding with Willis, Rodriguez set up Ethan Finlay for a shot that sailed just over the net.

Finlay was bidding for his second goal in as many games after netting his first of the season in a 1-0 win over Columbus last Saturday.
