The Brainerd/Baxter 14U team won the Class A championship in the 16-team section/state qualifier tournament July 14-15 at Elk River.

Brainerd/Baxter defeated Coon Rapids 21-0, Buffalo 5-2, St. Michael-Albertville/Rogers 3-1 and Elk River 5-0. It then lost to STMA/Rogers 5-4 in extra innings before beating STMA/Rogers 12-2 in the championship game.

This is only the third Brainerd/Baxter team to enter the top class (A) section/state qualifier and is the only Brainerd/Baxter team to ever win the championship.
