The Northern Division champion Central Lakes College Raiders will host the NJCAA Region 13B double-elimination tournament beginning Thursday, May 10, at the Findorff Athletic Complex in Brainerd.
Itasca (6-2 MCAC, 22-16 overall), Northland (4-4, 5-18) and Mesabi Range (2-6, 5-12) and CLC will battle for the right to advance to the NJCAA national tournament May 17-19 at Rochester, MN.
CLC, which opens the tournament at 10 a.m. Thursday against Mesabi, posted an 8-0 record in divisional play and went 25-5 overall during the regular season. The Raiders dominated several MCAC statistical categories with Andrea Wagoner tops in the conference in RBIs (64) and home runs (17).
Wagoner was also a force in the circle, leading the MCAC with a 2.55 ERA and collecting nine of CLC's 25 wins. The Raider pitching corps also included Kayla Larson, who appeared in 11 contests, winning six and collecting a save while racking up 60 strikeouts.
In the event of bad weather, and the tournament cannot be completed by Sunday, May 13, the highest remaining seeded team still in the tournament will be awarded the bid to the national tournament.
