Softball: Tautges, Warriors shut down Willmar

WILLMAR — Emma Taugtes continues to wreak havoc with both her arm and her bat.

The Brainerd Warrior junior went a combined 5-8 with two doubles, a triple, two runs and an RBI and pitched a complete-game one-hitter in a 15-0, 9-2 Central Lakes Conference sweep of the Willmar Cardinals Thursday, April 29.

In Game One, Kasia Kroll went 3-3 with a triple, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Josie Kappes was 2-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs and Olivia Tautges went 2-4 with four RBIs.

Emma Tautges struck out seven, walked one and allowed just one hit over four innings for the win. She helped her own cause by going 2-4 with an RBI.

“Our pitchers did a good job again tonight of getting ahead and trusting their defense,
Warriors head coach Shane Jordan said. “Kasia Kroll made a few really nice plays in right field tonight.


“We ran the bases better tonight and I’m proud of that as we’ve been talking about that every day in practice.”

Mya Tautges pitched the Game Two victory. She struck out eight and allowed two runs on two hits and two walks.
Kappes was 2-4 with a triple and a run. Olivia Tautges was 2-3 with a double and a run and Meghan Smith was 3-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs. Mya Tautges also drove in two runs.
