A three-run fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and propelled the Brainerd Warriors to a 5-2 Central Lakes Conference victory over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Tuesday at Adamson Field in Brainerd.
Clare Ceynowa opened the fourth with a single followed by Jordyn Sullivan's double. Ceynowa scored on a Cassidy Zontelli groundout before Emma Korhonen walked. Vanessa Britton stepped into the batter's box only to watch Sullivan score on a passed ball, which also helped Korhonen advance to third. Two pitches later Britton smacked a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Korhonen for a 5-2 advantage.
Lexi Roby and Richelle Bjork collected Brainerd's other two hits and Elaina Christiansen and Kylie Lange each drove in a run during a two-run third which knotted the score after Tech's Bryana Lommel belted a two-run homer in the first.
Sadie Jordan walked twice and scored a run and Korhonen finished with walks and two runs.
"The girls did a great job of taking advantage of seven walks and four hits and turning it into five runs," said Brainerd head coach Shane Jordan. "We take pride in running the bases and we did a good job of that today.
