Area Softball: Rangers squeak by Pillager

CROSBY—Caitlyn Gutzman singled in Mattie Kovatovich with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in a 7-6 non-conference win over the Pillager Huskies Thursday.

Kovatovich tossed all seven innings for the win. She struck out six and walked just one. C-I's Casidy Duerr went 4-4 with a double and Macey Roach went 2-4 with a double.

LITTLE FALLS—Jasmine Miller went 2-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Little Falls Flyers in an 8-6 Granite Ridge Conference win over the Zimmerman Thunder Thursday.

Kali Mammenga finished 3-3 with an RBI for the Flyers, while Megan Kirk was 2-4 with a double and Savea Zimmerman scored twice while going 2-3.

Pierz wins 2

PIERZ—Laura Skiba slammed two home runs as the Pierz Pioneers swept both games of a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader with the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles 9-1, 8-7 Thursday.

Brittney Boser finished with a combined 17 strikeouts and allowed just eight hits to pick up both wins.

STAPLES—Haley Youngbauer and Morgan Glenz had two hits apiece for the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders who needed just eight hits in a 27-5 non-conference victory over the Staples-Motley Cardinals Thursday.

The Raiders took advantage of seven S-M errors and 25 walks. They plated 14 runners in the sixth inning.

Youngbauer finished 2-2 with a double and three runs and Glenz was 2-4 with three RBIs and three runs.

Makaya Richards drove in two runs for the Cards.
