College Baseball: Raiders fall to 1-7 in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.-- Central Lakes College fell to 1-7 as the Raiders dropped both games of a doubleheader with Bismarck State College Thursday, March 14, at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz.

Jake Kapphahn went 2-3 with an RBI for CLC in an 11-2 loss in the first game. Preston Rocheleau drove in the other run for the Raiders who scattered eight hits among seven batters.

Starter Alex Guggisberg was tagged with the loss. He went six innings allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking four. Casey Welsh took the mound for the final inning and gave up five runs on four hits.

Eric Hinnenkamp pitched all six innings for CLC in a 9-2 loss in Game Two. He struck out 10 and walked three while giving up nine runs, eight earned, and 15 hits.

The Raiders had just four hits and trailed 9-0 going into the seventh. Bo Kruchten and Chad Savard opened the inning with back-to-back doubles for a run and Max Onyx, the only Raider with multiple hits, singled in the final run.

Wednesday's Games

The Raiders picked up their first win of the season when Jake Kapphahn went the distance in a 13-1 win over Anoka-Ramsey in Game One of a doubleheader Wednesday, March 13, at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz.

Kapphahn struck out eight and walked two while allowing just four hits over five innings.

Alex Guggisberg drove in four runs while going 2-3 and Alan Pietila cranked a three-run home run. Pietila also scored three runs and stole two bases.

Josh Fussy finished 2-3 with a triple and three runs scored and Preston Rocheleau contributed a double.

Anoka-Ramsey bounced back with 19 hits overall and 10 runs scored in the sixth for a 17-7 win in Game Two.

Fussy finished 3-5 with an RBI for CLC while seven other Raiders contributed lone singles.

Pietila took the loss giving up five runs on seven hits over four innings.
