WAITE PARK-Jenna Meyer keyed an explosive offense for the Brainerd Warriors who stayed unbeaten in the Central Lakes Conference with a 15-1 win over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Thursday, May 9.
Meyer finished 4-4 with a double, triple, an RBI and scored four runs.
"We've changed the lineup a bit and made some adjustments to our approach at the plate and it's paid off the last four games," said Brainerd head coach Shane Jordan. "Eighteen hits today shows how offensively explosive we can be. We also played good defense and pitched well today."
Winning pitcher Olivia Tautges limited the Tigers to just four hits and collected three hits of her own with three RBIs.
Clare Ceynowa reached base in all five of her plate appearances. She went 3-3 with a home run, scored three runs, drove in two and walked twice.
Olivia Hoelz drove in four runs as she doubled and finished 2-5. Kasia Kroll and Sydnee Johnson also collected two hits.
The Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and had big innings in the third (four runs) and seventh (five runs).
"The energy, enthusiasm and willingness to celebrate each other's successes tonight was off the charts," said Jordan. "I'm proud of how our team is coming together and learning to trust each other as we get further into our season."
Brainerd entered the game tied for the conference lead with eight points and is now 7-0 in the CLC, 11-3 overall.
