Area Softball: Flyers stay alive
FERGUS FALLS—Marre Welinski went 3-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the No. 7 Little Falls Flyers past the No. 6 Fergus Falls Otters 13-1 in the Section 8-3A loser's bracket Thursday, May 23.
Vy Do doubled twice, drove in two and scored three times for Little Falls. Savea Zimmerman also doubled and Sadie Sue Houdek finished 2-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Allie Steinmetz pitched all five innings. She struck out five, walked two and allowed four hits.

Pequot wins 1, loses 1
FRAZEE—Kaitlyn Geschwill drove in the winning hit for the No. 3-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots as they upset the No. 2 Hawley Nuggets 1-0 Thursday, May 23.
Geschwill struck out nine in game one, allowing no runs or walks with five hits for the Patriots.
Mya Orvis recorded the Patriots only hit in a 3-0 loss to the No. 1 seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Feltons Rebels Thursday, May 23.
Kaitlyn Geschwill struck out six and allowed one earned run for the 14-6 Patriots.

WADENA—MiKayla Hinzmann finished 2-3 with an RBI and scored a run for the No. 2 Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders who were dropped into the loser's bracket following a 6-2 loss to the No. 1 seeded Sebeka Trojans in the West Subsection 5-1A playoffs Thursday, May 23.
Mardi Ehrmantraut, Melanie Line and Joelle Bounds collected singles for the Raiders and Line was tagged with the loss.
Later Thursday in the loser's bracket, BHV stayed alive with a 3-0 shutout by Line over the No. 4 Pine River-Backus Tigers. She struck out four, walked none and allowed six hits.
Ehrmantraut, Mikayla Hinzman and Tess Jones had multiple hits. Hinzman doubled and stole a base and Jones stole two bases.
Danielle Burgoyne went 2-3 with a double for PRB which finishes 11-8.

WADENA—Jada Olivier struck out five, didn't walk a batter and allowed five hits for the No. 4 Pine River-Backus Tigers who slipped past the Menahga Braves 5-3 in the West Subsection 5-1A loser's bracket Thursday, May 23.
Olivier went 2-2. Ramsey Tulenchik and Rylee Norman also finished with two hits, each with a double and two RBIs.

Pierz loses 1, wins 1
WAITE PARK—The Pierz Pioneers fell to the No. 3 seeded Annandale Cardinals 2-0 in the Section 6-2A semifinals Thursday, May 23.
That sent the No. 2 Pioneers into the loser's bracket where they rallied to defeat Eden Valley-Watkins 8-7 in nine innings after being down 7-1.
Pierz moves to 18-5 and will play Albany Tuesday, May 28, in the Section 6-1A loser's bracket at Waite Park.
