The Brainerd team in the Minnesota Wild Special Hockey League will have a Try Hockey for Free Day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd.
Athletes of all ages with disabilities, from beginners to experienced skaters, are invited to participate.
Currently the Brainerd team has nine players of various abilities and ages and is looking for more players to join the team. Games will be played on Sundays beginning in November. The season will run through March.
Anyone interested in playing for the Brainerd team may sign up at Sunday's event or at www.MNSpecialHockey.org . Financial aid is available. No player will be turned away.
Brainerd will be coached by Kevin Haegele. His wife Amber Haegele is the team manager.
