MINNEAPOLIS — Mattias Algrain’s third touchdown of the game with 38 second remaining clinched the Class 3A state title for the Pierz Pioneers 28-27 over the Dassel-Cokato Chargers Saturday, Nov. 30, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Algarin finished with 165 yards rushing on 22 carries and three touchdowns. Michael Leidenfrost also was over 100 yards rushing and scored one touchdown for Pierz.
For the Chargers, Eli Gillman with 187 all purpose yards and two total touchdowns. Sanders Asplin also rushed for over 100 yards and had one touchdown.
Dan Saehr finishes his first season as head coach 14-0 and state champion.
