BARROWS -- Shawn Fletcher narrowed the points gap in the Modified class with a win and Jacob Jordan took over the point lead from David Siercks in the Sportmods class on Saturday, July 6, at North Central Speedway.
Fletcher started on the fourth row in the 20-lap feature and worked his way into the third spot on the second lap. He overtook Luke Hines for the lead on lap 11 and stayed out front the rest of the way. Justine Jones finished second and AJ Viehauser grabbed third place.
With the win, Fletcher is now 11 points behind leader Aaron Johnson. It was the fourth win of the year for Fletcher and his seventh top-five finish in 10 feature races.
David Siercks held a seven-point lead over Jacob Jordan and nine-point lead over Jake Hagemann at the start of the Saturday’s racing. However, Siercks chose not to race Saturday and Jordan took advantage of the opportunity. His father, Troy Jordan, led until lap 5 of the 15-lap feature when a caution flag pushed him to the back of the field. Hagemann grabbed the lead for the next four laps before Jacob Jordan caught him on lap 10. Jordan nailed down the win. Hagemann placed second. Jacob Jordan holds a three-point lead over Hagemann and 33 points over Siercks.
Hobby Stock driver Tim Gonska won 10 races in 2018 on his way to a points championship and he is on that same trajectory this season. Gonska only led for four of the 15-lap feature, but they were the last four. Gonska was followed by Dave Johnson and Jake Borden. The win was the sixth of the year for Gonska, which leads all classes, and gives him a 34-point lead over Michael Nelson.

Travis Roush won his third race of the season in the Sports Compact class. He led for 11 of the 15 laps starting from the fifth row. The win increased his lead to 15 in the points race over Zach Beshmen, who finished outside the top three.
The Super Stock feature was the biggest of the evening with 15 cars in the field for the 20-lap feature. Tim Johnson took the lead on the 13th lap and then engaged in a battle with Dylan Nelson for the top spot. When the dust settled it was Johnson coming away with his fifth win of the season. Nelson still leads the points race by 55 points over Johnson.
Mod 4 driver Jami Flickinger has just two races at NCS under his belt. On June 29, Flickinger finished third and Saturday, July 6, he recorded the victory. Starting from the fourth row, Flickinger grabbed the lead from points leader Adam Prieve on the 10th lap and held off Prieve for the rest of the race to raise his first checkered flag at NCS.
