BARROWS-Tempers were flaring and cars were on their sides during a thrilling night of feature racing Saturday at North Central Speedway.
Last week Hobby Stock driver Corey Hill claimed the checkered flag and is sitting third in the points standings. He had to watch most of Saturday night's feature from the field after running into trouble on Turn Four early in the race, resulting in his car ending up on its side.
Hill was able to walk away and his car got back on two wheels with the help of a tow truck, but his night of racing was over.
Robert Young Jr. won his third race of the season winning a battle with David Dosh. Young is the points leader by six over Timothy Gonska.
It has been a good start to the season for Modified driver Shawn Fletcher as he entered Saturday's feature with three wins in 2017. As the green flag dropped, Fletcher started from the middle of the pack and looked to gain track position early. He made a move into the middle of a crowd resulting in Justin Jones sustaining damage to his car. Jones would end up going into the wall in Turn Two and his night was over.

Before leaving the track, Jones showed his displeasure by throwing his helmet at Fletcher's car as Fletcher drove by.
After the restart, Fletcher continued his move to the front and in back of teammate AJ Viehauser. Eventually Fletcher caught and moved past Viehauser and the teammates finished first and second in the 20-lap event with Fletcher taking the top spot. He leads Ryan Canon, who finished third, by two in the points race.
David Siercks and Dean Blanchard Jr. were looking for their fourth straight win with Siercks in the Northern Spot Modified class and Blanchard Jr. in the Mod 4 class.
Siercks started from Row Four and stayed on the bottom side of the track. Practicing patience he worked his way up into first place where he finished in front of Jacob Jordan and Adam Bohlman.
Siercks' chaser in the points race, Jake Hagemann, ended with a flat tire and had to leave the race. He trails Siercks by 19 points.
Blanchard Jr. didn't fare as well in his try for his fourth win. He battled his car through the feature race and finished fourth behind Chad Funt with Jerry Esler second. Esler leads Blanchard Jr. by three in the points race.
Brendon Yamry was the Sport Compact winner. He and Derek Stanoch were battling each other through the 12-lap feature but Stanoch got caught behind lapped traffic and Yamry grabbed the win.
Dylan Nelson claimed his first win of the season in Super Stock. Nelson is the defending 2016 points champion.
