BARROWS - Corry Vanmil's car ran away from the field in the heat race and in the feature as he won the 15-lap Mod 4 class at North Central Speedway Saturday night.

Jerry Esler finished third and still has leads the points race with an 8-point advantage over Chad Funt, who won the feature.

Mark Martini was penalized with a caution flag that occurred on the first lap of the 15-lap Northern Modified feature and was sent to the back of the field. He regrouped and moved his way back to the front, winning ahead of Craig Paul and Adam Bohlman.

Martini also widened his large lead over David Siercks and Ashley Mehrwerth who both were out of the race after the first-lap caution.

Dylan Nelson and Nick Obrien were each first-time winners in heat races in the Super Stock class. Rookie Jesse Smolik also led a lap in the feature before he crashed against the wall on the back stretch and was out of the race.

Dave Read took the checkered flag in the 20-lap feature followed by Nelson and Chris Wark. Read also owns the points lead by 16 points over Jake Goetze.

Brendon Yamry returned to the winner's podium in the Sports Compact feature. He's running away the points race with an 88-point margin over Trista Pankratz.

Devin Larson was a Pure Stock feature winner and Robert Young took the checkered flag in the Street Stock feature. Larson trails Charlie Shiek by just seven points in the Pure Stock race while Mark Johnson has a 14-point lead over Aaron Johnson in the Street Stock class.

Don Eischens took the checkered flag in the 20-lap Modified feature running in front of Shawn Fletcher and Rob Vanmil. The race was cut by five laps due to five caution flags, but Eischens owned a sizeable lead in front of the field.

Fletcher's second-place finish helped him in his pursuit to chase down Troy Jordan for the points crown as Jordan leads by just four points.

Just three races remain for points with next Saturday and Sunday's Mighty Axe Nationals and the season championships Sept. 18. Sprint cars will join the other classes for both days of the Mighty Axe Nationals.
