WILLMAR -- The Brainerd Warriors tennis squad lost to the Willmar Cardinals 6-1 Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference match.
Winning Brainerd's only match was Megan Steiger who defeated Willmar's Catie Anderson 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
"Willmar is a real nice team and we counted on Megan and Megan (Whalen) to play well for us today," said Warriors coach Bruce Thompson. "(Willmar's) Becca Gillis at No. 1 singles played well today. It was an uphill battle for us."
