College Track and Field: Huber qualifies for Division II Outdoor Nationals

Senior Brian Huber of the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's track and field team was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Wednesday, May 16.

Huber picked up his second field athlete of the year honor (he also won indoors in 2016) after an outstanding performance at the NSIC Outdoor Championships Saturday, May 12, in Winona. Huber won the long jump with a school-record 25-11.25. That is the best jump in Division II this season and also a meet record, breaking the previous mark by more than a foot. Huber was also second in the 200 dash to earn All-NSIC honors in that event.
The Staples native finished with five NSIC titles in his track career. He will compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships May 24 at Charlotte, N.C.

Tuesday, May 15, the four-time All-American (3-time first-team) was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Men's National Athlete of the Week. A day earlier, he received USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
