Area Track and Field: Pillager girls and W-DC boys win
PILLAGER—Pillager's Julia Johnson won three events and the Wadena-Deer Creek boys collected six wins at the Pillager Invite Thursday, April 18.
Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles followed by teammates Mariah Ramsey in second and Jessa Kimman in third leading Pillager to the team win. Johnson also captured the high jump and pole vault followed by Ramsey in second and Danielle Kocur in third.
Kimman won the 300 hurdles. Jordyn VanVickle won the long jump and was second in the 400 dash. Grace Grimsley won the triple jump. Amelia Williams won the shot put and discus.
Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale's Courtney Templin won the 400 dash. Alyssa Thompson won the 800 run and the Raiders won the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Wadena-Deer Creek's Mikaela Malone captured the 100 dash and was second in the long jump. Abigail Motschenbacher was second in the 1600 and Emma Ries was second in the 3200. The Wolverines won the 4x100 and 4x800 relays
Anna Downie placed second in the 300 hurdles for PR-B and Sidney Lodge was second in the triple jump
W-DC's Isaac Hale won the 100 dash and was second in the 200 dash. Bereket Loer won the 400 dash and Josh Tabery won the 1600 and the Wolverines won the 4x800 relay. Cody Wheeler soared to the victory in the pole vault. Cooper Folkestad scored a win in the shot put and was second in the discus helping the W-DC boys to first.
Pillager's Tucker Peterson won the 200 dash and the long jump and Carson VanVickle won the 800 run. The Huskies also won the 4x200 and 4x400 relays and Ben Oie the discus for a second-place team finish.
BHV's Ryan O'Bar was second in the 400 dash and the Raiders won the 4x100 relay.
PR-B's Nate Wosmek swept the 110 and 300 hurdles and won the high jump to lead the PR-B boys to fourth.
Pequot girls 1st, boys 2nd
CROSBY—Mirjana Ganley recorded a first place in the 200-meter dash and pole vault to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriot girl to first at the Crosby-Ironton Invite Thursday, April 18.
Pequot's Annika Olson won the 100 hurdles and Desera Engholm doubled-down with wins in the shot put and discus throw.
Crosby-Ironton's Paige Westin captured the 100 dash and Kathryn Ireland won the high jump for the fifth-place Ranger girls.
Pequot Lakes' Maximus Johnston won the 400 dash and Brooks Anderson finished first in 300 hurdles for the second place Patriots boys.
Pierz boys place 1st
FOLEY—Pierz' Mathias Algarin was a triple winner as he claimed the 100-meter dash, long jump and triple jump to push the Pioneer boys to a first place finish at the Foley Invite Thursday, April 18.
Pierz's Zach Traut registered a first-place in the discus and the Pierz 4x200 relay was also first. Jacob Andres was second in the 3200.
Kyanna Burton placed first in the 3200 and was second in the 1600 runs and the 10th-place Staples-Motley girls won the 4x800 relay. The S-M boys also won the 4x800 relay to finish eighth as a team.
Emma Kroska was second in the long jump for the eighth-place Pierz girls.
