Aitkin wins 2
AITKIN —Aitkin’s Craig Visnovec was a part of the winning 800-meter sprint medley team, 4x100, discus, triple jump and high jump as the Gobbler boys were first overall with a team score of 130 Tuesday, April 20, in a Great River Conference meet.
Teagan Piecek led the girls with three wins as a part of the 4x100, long jump and triple jump relay teams. The Gobbler girls were first overall with a team score of 118.
Atikin also won the girls four-mile relay, discus and throwers 4x100. The Aitkin boys also won in the 4x800, 4x200, distance medley, four-mile relay, 4x400, throwers 4x100, shot put and long jump.
Pequot wins 2
PEQUOT LAKES — Carly Chaney won the 800- and 1600-meter runs to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots girls team to a first-place finish Tuesday, April 20, at the Pequot Lakes Invite.
The Patriot boys teams also finished first behind Charles Schiessl’s first-place finish in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Pequot Lakes also got top finishes from Lydia Hubbard and Ella Kratochvil who went first and second in the high jump respectively. Pequot’s Riya Johnston won the 100 dash.
Caleb Davis won the 400 dash followed by Jesse Clausen in second. Issak Geroy won the 800 run, Ethan Johnson captured the 1600 run, Eli Hall won the 3200 run and Cruz Megazinni won the triple and high jumps and Garett Griffin collected a first in the shot put and Lucas Ganley won the discus for the Pequot boys.
Pillager’s Jessa Kimman won the 100 and 300 hurdles and the long jump for the second-place Pillager Huskies girls. Tatum Scull won the 200 dash and triple jump.
Jacey Rydberg swept the throwing events for the third-place Crosby-Ironton girls. Hayley Jones recorded a first-place 8-foot-5 on the pole vault and Emily Miller won the 3200 run.
Quintin Laveau won the 100 and 200 dashes and the long jump for the second-place Pillager boys.
Nick Nierenhausen won the pole vault for the third-place C-I boys.
The Pine River-Backus boys and girls each finished fourth.
