Trap Shooting: Pequot places 22nd

PRIOR LAKE--Led by Hunter Ebent's 95, the Pequot Lakes trap shooting team finished 22nd in Saturday's Minnesota State High School's State Clay Target competition at the Minneapolis Gun Club.

PRIOR LAKE-Led by Hunter Ebent's 95, the Pequot Lakes trap shooting team finished 22nd in Saturday's Minnesota State High School's State Clay Target competition at the Minneapolis Gun Club.

Pequot Lakes posted a team score of 443. Ryan Visser collected 91 total points followed by 86s from Matthew Fabian and Jack Harguth and an 85 from Kirk Johnson.

Right behind Pequot was Pillager, which posted a 442 for 25th.

Joseph Albertson concluded with a total score of 93 followed by Logan Lunow's 92, Ben Oie's 89, Jared Eng's 86 and Kaitlyn Luksik's 82.

New Prague captured the team title with a first-place score of 480. St. Michael-Albertville scored 471 for second with Bemidji finishing third with 470. There were 38 teams competing.

On the individual side, Nathan Poster of Pierz posted a total score of 92 to tie for 48th. Staples-Motley's Katie Benson was the area's top female performer as she scored a 91 to tie for 55th. She was followed by teammate Brenden Thompson, who posted a 90 to tie for 66th. Travis Maciej tied for 73 with Wadena-Deer Creek's Brady Adams. Both scored 89.

Brainerd's Andrew Muesing finished with a total score of 87 to tie for 81st place. Staples-Motley's Dominick Carlson shot 86 to land in a tie for 85th. Jake Johnson of Crosslake scored an 84 to tie for 93rd.

There was 101 individual shooters.
