Trap Shooting: Raiders place second in conference

In just its second season of competition, the Central Lakes College Trap Shooting Club placed second in the USA Clay Target League conference.

CLC placed second behind Bismarck State College in the Conference 1 standings. There were nine teams in the conference that used five players’ scores from each team.

Other schools represented in Conference 1 were McPherson College, Mitchell Technical Institute, Mount Aloysius College, North Central Kansas Technical College, North Central Missouri College, Northwest Kansas Technical College and Paul Smith’s College.

Individually, Elena Uhlenkamp of Clarissa placed second in the female season average with a score of 22.5. Jenna Thompson of Bismarck State was the top female shooter with 23.1.

In the skeet shooting division, CLC’s Garrett Rother of Hastings placed second in the individual season average for males with an average score of 21.8. Derek Knutzen of Northwest Kansas Technical College was the top male at 23.1.

The Raiders roster consists of Ryan Gronlund of Wadena, Tristan Johnson of Alexandria, Quinn Mathisen of Howard Lake, Cort Schuman of Big Lake, Isaac Malone of Willmar, Megan Tritz of Darwin, Matthew Schluttner of Wadena, Kylie Wolkenhauer of Pequot Lakes, Luke Engelmeyer of Merrifield along with Uhlenkamp and Rother.

The coaches for the team are Mike Hammer, Steve Weagel and Erich Heppner.
