The Brainerd Kiwanis Club announced Tuesday, June 9, that its annual Kiwanis Kids Triathlon would be canceled for 2020 out of concern for the health and safety of participants, spectators and volunteers.
The race was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, at Whipple Beach. This would have been the 13th annual race for boys and girls ages 5 - 14.
An average of 200 participants along with 100 race volunteers participated annually in the event. Details on past races can be found at https://brainerdkiwanisclub.org/
The cancellation of the Kiwanis Kids Triathlon does not currently affect the Lakes Country Triathlon, which is sponsored by the Baxter Lakes Area and Friends Kiwanis Club. Lakes Country Triathlon information online at http://lakescountrytriathlon.com .
