BAXTER-Kyler Schmidgall of Little Falls and Jaycee Carlson of Brainerd posted the fastest boys and girls times for the for Saturday's Kiwanis Kids Triathlon at Whipple Beach.
Schmidgall posted a 17:36 total time to win the boys 9-year-old division. Carlson's time of 18:56 was the top time overall and won the girls 9-year-old division, which consisted of a 25-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride and a 1-mile run.
Athletes 10 years and older covered a 50-yard swim, 4-mile bike and a 2-mile run.
Baden Bastian's 27:02 was the top time overall and he won the boys 14-year-old category. Macy Bell of Maple Grove was the fastest girl at that distance with a time of 32:44.
