Junior Zak Olsson not only earned a spot on the All-District 9 West South team, but was named the Sub-district Special Teams Player of the Year.

The Verndale Pirate wideout and defensive back was joined by seniors Zach Brownlow (OL-S) and Jaden Finck (TE-DE) and fellow juniors Dilan Orlando (QB-DB) and Eli Olsson (C-DL) on the all-district team.

Senior Matt Mensinger (RB-LB) and juniors Gideon Ervasti (RB-LB), Brandon Greenwaldt (TE-DE) and Hunter Schulke (RB-LB) earned honorable mention selections for the Pirates.

Tigers land 3 on Northwest All-District

Pine River-Backus’ Connor Tulenchik, Corbin Knapp and Rian Struss earned sports on the Northwest All-District team for the East Division.

Despite playing in a limited number of games, the trio helped the Tigers to 2-1 record and an upset victory over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in the Section 6-1A playoffs.

Chase Hoppe, Owen Carlson, Irvin Tulenchik and Wyatt Bean scored spots on the honorable mention team.
