Colin Kleffman and Bryce McConville combined on a 1-hitter to help the Brainerd VFW 16-year-old team to a 2-1 win over Pequot Lakes Tuesday.
Kleffman went 5.2 innings and allowed one hit and no earned runs. He struck out 10 and walked three. McConville finished, struck out three and walked two.
McCale Peterson went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in the only Brainerd run.
Pequot Lakes won Game Two 6-2. Shane Slettom was 2-for-2 and McConville doubled. David Benson pitched a complete game allowing five hits and five earned runs with eight strikeouts and three walks.
