VFW Baseball: Brainerd, Pierz split

Tristan Richardt and Chris Karels each drove in two runs. Karels added a double and a run. McCale Peterson finished 2-3 with an RBI and a double and Bryce McConville was 2-3 with an RBI and a run.

Despite netting six hits, Brainerd could only muster one run in a 3-1 Game Two loss to Pierz Monday in Brainerd.

McCale Peterson finished 2-2 with a double and CJ Orsburn scored Brainerd's lone run.

Bryce McConville pitched four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on just two hits and one walk. He struck out two. Colin Kleffman pitched the final three innings. He struck out four and didn't allow a hit.

The two teams will face each other again Tuesday. The winner will advance to the District 6 tournament Friday in Brainerd.
