The Brainerd VFW 16 team swept a doubleheader from Pierz at Adamson Field Monday.

In Game One, Broc Peterson went 3-for-4 as Brainerd nipped Pierz 8-7 in nine innings on a walk-off wild pitch. Brady Anderson was 1-2 with a double, two RBIs, two walks, three runs and a stolen base. Renzen Caughey was 2-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Eric Martin started and worked 5.2 innings. He struck out five, walked three and allowed six runs (4 earned) with one hit batter. The win went to Mason Argir who pitched 3.1 innings with one strikeout and no walks. He allowed two hits and no earned runs.

Brady Anderson was 2-3 with an RBI and stolen base as Brainerd defeated Pierz 7-3 in five innings in Game Two.

Catcher Josh Hukriede threw out five runners. Josh Hukriede was 1-2 with a double, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base.

Winning pitcher Levi McDonald struck out four and walked three in five innings and allowed three runs (2 earned).

Brainerd was scheduled to host St. Cloud West Tuesday.
