PIERZ-Buckman defeated the Pierz Bulldogs 10-6 Thursday to set up a decisive clash between the Billygoats and Lastrup Lakers in their final regular-season game Saturday.
Buckman and Lastrup enter the season finale hosted by the Billygoats tied for the East Division lead with 9-3 records. The Lakers defeated Buckman 3-2 in a 10-inning game June 25.
Against the Bulldogs, starter Ben Boser earned the win working five innings allowing seven hits and all six Pierz runs while striking out three and walking five. Matt Kummet and Shawn Lanners each tossed two scoreless innings to close out the game.
Kummet was 2-2 at the plate with an RBI and scored twice for Buckman. Lane Girtz had a two-run triple while Ben Boser, Matt Tautges and Noah Boser contributed doubles. Aaron Weber and Joe Kahl each had a pair of hits.
Ryan Foreman was the only Bulldog with multiple hits. Nick Herold and Andy Leidenfrost each finished with a double and two RBIs for Pierz.
