CROSBY - The Nisswa Lightning took advantage of a 15-run first inning to defeat the Cuyuna Range Miners 18-5 for their third consecutive win in an East Division contest Sunday.

The Miners gave up eight walks in the opening stanza and had gone to their third pitcher, Jake Zontelli, before registering an out. Starter Jaron Brezinsky took the loss and Zontelli was the pitcher of record for all seven innings.

Jason Roepke went 3-5 with a double, three runs and two RBIs for Nisswa. Adam Hardy and Morgan Shepherd each had two hits.

Jamie Stall doubled for the Miners who were in their season opener.

Pierz Brewers 13, Freeport 3

FREEPORT - Eric Boser went 3-6 with a double, home run and three RBIs to lead the Pierz Brewers past the Freeport Black Sox 13-3 in an interdivision game Sunday.

Greg Pohlkamp finished 3-4 with a double and pair of RBIs and Josh Boser was 3-6 with an RBI. Dylan Kummet was 1-3 with a double, two RBIs and was hit by a pitch three times.

Mike Poser had three RBIs while going 2-2. He also pitched all nine innings striking out three and walking three while giving up seven hits and three runs.

Fort Ripley 9, St. Mathias 5

ST. MATHIAS - Trailing 5-3 going into the ninth, the Ft. Ripley Rebels put across six runs to rally past the St. Mathias Devils 9-5 in a North Division game Sunday.

The Devils gave up the six runs on just one hit coupled with four walks and two hit batters.

Brett Kramer finished 2-5 with a home run and Dustin Littlefield was 2-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Ben Stall went 3-4 with a double and RBI for St. Mathias and Jake Francis also had a double. Brandon Owen and Jordan Hunstad contributed two hits apiece.

PIERZ - The Buckman Billygoats jumped out to an early lead and took advantage of a four-run eighth inning to cruise to a 9-3 win over the Lastrup Lakers in a battle for the East Division lead Friday at Pierz Legion Park.

Jeremy Monson picked up the win for the 3-0 Billygoats while Scott Janson was tagged with the loss for the 2-1 Lakers.

FLENSBURG - Luke Schmmer and Aaron Jenkins both homered and drove in six runs apiece to lead the Nisswa Lightning to a 23-3vicotry over the Flensburg Falcons Saturday.

Jenkins finished 4-4 and scored twice while Schumer was 3-4 with four runs scored. Jeremiah Piepkorn and Adam Hardy also had three hits each while Brett Jenkins, Drew Boland and Trevor Wittwer contributed two hits each.
