Victory League Baseball: Rebels clinch North Division title

FORT RIPLEY--The unbeaten Fort Ripley Rebels clinched the North Division regular-season title and an automatic berth in the Region 8C tournament with an 11-1 win over the Cuyuna Range Miners in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday.

Starter Ethan Branum picked up the win for the 9-0 Rebels striking out five over six innings while allowing one walk, four hits and the lone Miners' run.

Luke Weber threw the final three innings to earn a save and struck out five.
Bill Sather led the Fort Ripley offense driving in four runs while going 5-6. Nick Jelacie was 2-3 with a double and Dustin Littlefield had two hits.
Bryan Syrstad had two hits and Jake Zontelli doubled for the Miners.

Fort Ripley 9, Cuyuna 2

FORT RIPLEY - Jack Hegarty and Logan Kalis had a combined 15 strikeouts for the Fort Ripley Rebels in a 9-2 victory over the Cuyuna Range Miners
in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.
Hegarty got the win going the first six innings, striking out 10 and
walking one while allowing five hits and two runs. Kalis earned a save
striking out five over three hitless innings.
Brett Kramer paced the Rebel offense going 3-4 with a double, an RBI and
two runs. Nick Jelacie and Luke Weber each doubled and had two hits
apiece. Rhett Williamson and Brian Skluzacek also contributed two hits.
Luke Zontelli was 3-4 for Cuyuna Range and Reed Olander had a double.

Brewers 14, Bulldogs 4

PIERZ-Logan Meyer threw all seven innings to earn the win for the Pierz Brewers in a 14-4 victory over the Pierz Bulldogs Sunday.
Meyer struck out three and walked four while allowing seven hits.
Chuck Boser keyed the Brewer offense going 3-4 with an RBI triple and scored twice. Dylan Kummet was 3-5 with three RBIs and Breck Weber collected four RBIs while going 2-5 from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. Meyer and Eric Boser also had two hits each for the
Brewers.
Mike Meyer doubled for the Bulldogs who scattered singles among six other batters.

Buckman 10, Brewers 6

PIERZ-Matt Tautges and Noah Boser homered for the Buckman Billygoats in a 10-6 win over the Pierz Brewers Sunday.
Tautges finished 2-4 with three RBIs and three runs while Boser finished 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
Jeremy Monson was 3-5 with a triple and a double for the Billygoats. Matt Kummet was 2-4 with three RBIs. Ben Boser also had two hits.
Brian Kiel went 2-5 with a two-run triple for Pierz while Dylan Kummet and Breck Weber finished with two hits each.
Mark Kahl earned the win for Buckman.

Lastrup 3, Buckman 2

PIERZ-Rick Schlieman ripped a two-out, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th to give the Lastrup Lakers a 3-2 win over the Buckman Billygoats Sunday.
Five other Lakers had singles including Preston Rocheleau who drove in the first two Lastrup runs, the first on a second-inning sacrifice fly, the second with an RBI single in the fourth.
Matt Tautges and Noah Boser doubled for Buckman and Aaron Weber went 2-3.
Reggie Litke picked up the win in relief after Lastrup starter Brad Meyer went nine innings, striking out three and walking three while surrendering nine hits and two runs.
Jeremy Monson went the distance for the Buckman and took the loss.

Aitkin 8, St. Mathias 6

ST. MATHIAS-Cody Meyer was making a bid for a perfect game for St. Mathias but saw it evaporate when the Aitkin Steam rallied late for an 8-6 win over the Devils Sunday.
Meyer took a perfect game into the seventh with the Devils leading 6-0, only to see Aitkin score three in the seventh and five in the eighth.
Sam Peterson and Brian Burman ripped homers to aid the Aitkin rally.
St. Mathias scored five runs in the fourth on one hit, a walk and four hit batters and added a run in the fifth to go up 6-0.
After the perfect start, Meyer took the loss, giving up all eight runs and eight hits while striking out 10 and walking one over eight innings. All eight Aitkin runs were scored with two out.

Nathan Ehnstrom earned the win in relief for Aitkin.
Peterson finished 2-4 with the homer, two RBIs and two runs scored for Aitkin. Jake Lynn was 2-4 with a double and Nathan Ehnstrom also had two hits.
Taylor Lennartson went 2-4 and scored a run for St. Mathias.
