The Minnesota Vikings signed safety Harrison Smith to a five-year contract extension on Monday.
According to multiple reports, the 2015 Pro Bowler will earn $51.25 million over the next five years with a $10 million signing bonus and $28.578 million guaranteed
The new deal makes Smith the NFL's highest-paid safety at $10.25 million per season.
The 27-year-old Smith, the Vikings' 2012 first-round pick out of Notre Dame, finished with 66 tackles, two interceptions and 1.5 sacks last season.
In his first four NFL seasons, Smith has recorded 320 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 12 interceptions. He holds a team record with four interception returns for touchdowns.
