FERGUS FALLS - Tedi Ramberg pounded 10 kills with three blocks to help the Brainerd Warriors to a 3-0 win over the Fergus Falls Otters in Tuesday's Central Lakes contest.
The Warriors started tentative, but eked out a 26-24 opening-game win and then went on to take the next two 25-18, 25-16.
"Fergus Falls has dominated us for the last three years and the girls were kind of shell-shocked coming into the Fergus gym," said Brainerd coach Jared Diem. "Then they started relaxing and playing their own game."
The last time the Warriors defeated the Otters was in 2010.
"I just loved seeing Nicole (Borg) get all her blocks (4.5) and Kirsten (Johnshoy) had four aces that were huge," Diem added. "Jenna Degen just had a great all-around game."

Degen finished with four kills, 22 set assists, two ace serves, four digs and a block. Katy Johnson kept busy scooping 15 digs and added four kills.
"Another huge part of our team are our parents," said Diem. "Most of them are driving two hours to our away games and I'd really like to thank them for all their support of the girls."
The Warriors had dropped three of their last four matches before Tuesday and are now 4-6 in the CLC, 12-10 overall.
Brainerd has another CLC match as Willmar on Thursday and then, according to Diem, will host its first-ever home tournament, the Big Axe Classic, 9 a.m. Saturday at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.
