PEQUOT LAKES - Jenna Degen notched 19 set assists, and nailed four kills to lead the Brainerd Warriors to a 3-game sweep over Pequot Lakes in the season opener for both teams Tuesday night.
Tedi Ramberg tallied 10 kills and Maddie Stall collected 13 digs for the winning Warriors.
"We established a quick attack which we haven't had in a while," said Warriors head coach Jared Diem. "Jenna Degen had a complete game with good setting and defense."
Brittny Bzdok totaled 10 kills and five digs while Josie Florell tipped 18 set assists and Amanda Nies added 18 digs for the Patriots.
"The first game of the year there are a lot of rough spots and nerves, and you could see that on the court," said Diem. "I was very proud of the girls but we have a few things to work on, especially in our serving game as we had 19 service errors tonight."
