Good morning from Gillette, Wyoming!
I'm here in the blind with cameraman Kyle waiting on a big buck pronghorn. This is the first day of my first-ever pronghorn hunt and I feel pretty darn confident that I am going to get a chance to harvest one of these beautiful creatures with my new Bear bow.
We had three bucks come in behind us right away this morning but there was something that they didn't quite like. We also spotted a lone buck that looked to be a trophy but he moved on, too. So, we were told it would be a waiting game and right now that's what we are doing. Kyle is hammering down some Hank's jerky and it's going to be very interesting to see how the rest of the day unfolds.
This western life is pretty cool. We've experienced a cattle drive and some roping and barrel racing. Last night we put on a fish fry for a lot of the folks out here on the ranch and now I'm thinking I shouldn't have eaten so much fish, beans and coleslaw! Not a good combination for having to sit in the blind all day. Oh well, I still think we're going to get the job done, it's just a matter of time. In fact, I just resumed writing you after seeing two does and three kids (young pronghorns).
Some people call pronghorn antelope or goats but I guess technically they a pronghorn. They are cool and they are one of the fastest animals in the world, reaching top speed at 60 mph. We are out here with a number of other hunters in our group so there will be some good stories told and you'll be able to watch this show on the tube in 2015.
