I'm getting an early jump on the open water season (practicing down here in Florida right now.) I think everyone is getting ready for an early jump!
The Bassmaster Classic is happening as I speak, people are out jigging on some of our Minnesota rivers. The Rainy should be out early this spring and I think everyone is really jazzed for another open water season here in Minnesota! I know the Brainerd Warrior Fishing Team is. We are getting geared up for season two and it's looking like it will be another big year!
I think 2016 is going to be huge for the sport of fishing. What better excuse can we have to get away from the B.S. that we've been watching on TV than to go fishing! You know what I'm talking about-what a joke!
I'm thinking fish, Twins baseball, Wild hockey and of course turkeys! Let's get back to fishing for a moment. My son Mac and I were guided yesterday by Steve Quisberg down here off of Marco Island, Fla. It was a real treat, and exactly what the doctor ordered. We had an awesome day on the water, catching and missing a number of different species of fish. Snapper, grouper, grunts, this and that. Mac and Steve doubled up on big fish and they both got away! Mac is going to be a sore one this morning! Hey, should we talk about fishing some more? OK, how about Lake Winnipeg? Who's going? If you are a planner, put it in the books for next winter. If you are not a planner (like myself), we still have until the end of the month to head up and hammer on a giant greenback! OK ... one day at a time.
We will bring back as much Florida sunshine as we can!
