An early spring - thanks God!
After a couple years of winter lasting too long, we got a good one! People are excited, the birds and animals are happy and I'm sure the bugs are, too.
As the buds start to pop and the loons start to sing, I can't help but think of a busy Brainerd lakes area for the next few months! Nature is coming alive and along with that comes the local economy. They really do seem to go hand in hand.
The loons are back and so are those folks that can handle only so much of the "off season" here in the lakes area. Let's welcome them all back! And no, I'm not trying to put the two in the same category!
I am 47 years old and I am getting to the point in my life where a warm climate sounds pretty darn inviting, too! In fact, I think the Dominican Republic is calling my wife and I ... we'll see. So, as the "life" starts to get put back into the area, let's all remember why this area is so special to so many. It's the lakes, it's the trees, it's the people, it's the air, it's the loons, it's the fish and it's the people that come here for a short stay that keep everything rollin' ... thank you!
P.S. - The turkey season is in full swing, the crappies are eating plastics in the shallows and the mosquitoes and wood ticks are out and about too!
P.P.S. - Make sure to stop by the Walleyedan kiosk at Mills Fleet Farm to sign up for the Lil' Fry's kids fishing contest on May 9 at Bar Harbor.
Enjoy this awesome season in our awesome "little place."
