I am writing to you on this morning of Sept. 11, 2014. It's a cool, beautiful morning in the Brainerd lakes area but one can only imagine the thoughts and emotions that are running through the heads and hearts of those who were immediately affected by the evil-doers that decided it would be "the thing to do" on that day 13 years ago.
Last night was Obama's speech, too, and how coincidental is it that on the eve of 9/11 he gives an address that it's time to go after the "next" terrorist group (no matter where they may be). The world is a shaky place right now and if you can't feel that, you must be pretty well grounded (or really "out there/lost").
I don't mean to send you so much gloom and doom on this beautiful weekend, but I guess I did. Where is your hope? Mine is in Jesus. He is our only hope!
Now for "the rest of the story!" The archery deer season opens today (Sept. 13) and I plan on sitting in a tree in the same woods as my son, Mac. This will be his first archery hunt. Rabbit, squirrel and grouse season also opens today (Sept. 13). Guess what else? Yep, the Vikings and the Patriots will do battle down at the "U." Guess what else? Yep, the walleyes are going to start hammering everything in sight! It's also time to head over to our neighboring state for a crack at one of "their" whitetails with a crossbow. I'm looking forward to a little tree stand time with cameraman Kyle. I hope to have a good story for you next week as I return home from our trip to buckville.
P.S. As of today, there were still openings for the Fishing To End Hunger tournament on Oct. 4!

Out of here, Walleyedan.
